What is interesting about software engineers is that I think they know they’re making themselves irrelevant…but have no way to stop themselves from doing it. Because then it would require them to empathize with everyone they’ve already automated to irrelevance.
Our grandparent's retirements rely on student loan payments (and mortgage back securities). So its less of a question of "how much resistance educational institutions will put up" and more of a question of, "When will these "educational" institutions admit they're just subscription country clubs for wealth gate keeping?"
As the same hedge fund and pension managers who rely on student loan payments and usury would be remise to deprive their alma mater of the income, just because they're functionally obsolete. Meaning, College in an AI-ecosystem becomes as relevant as the Yellow Pages in a world dominated by Google.
